Re: MASH/Dragnet's Harry Morgan dead at 96

speaking of MJ, I feel bad for that doctor...true he did wrong, but MJ was on a path of self destruction and regardless of who his doctor or companion was, it was going to happen...

Who said anything about sainthood? But it's equally disgusting to try and paint them as the spawn of Satan when they made ONE terrible mistake. If you have any PROOF that Harry Morgan was a "wife beater", a title that indicates a prolonged pattern of abusive behavior, please share it with us. Without that proof it is a little reckless and unfair to throw the accusation around, especially when the man is no longer alive to refute it.

As for the Michael Jackson situation...that's different. There there was a pattern of unusual behavior though he was never convicted of any criminal charges. I don't think anyone's forgotton the ugly aspects of his life, they just chose to celebrate the good achievements in light of his death...it's human nature.

And vt...I hear you on the doctor, but despite what MJ may have been doing to himself, it was still the man's responsibility as a doctor to do what was in the best interest of his patient and cleary feeding that self destructive behavior was not it.

Sainthood? I just said I liked him and was sad at his passing.

As Sue said, he had one incident at the age of 80. He admitted drinking and he admitted he was horribly wrong.

To compare him to MJ is ridiculous. The guy abused drugs and if you want to believe the victims, kids.

MJ was guilty, just as OJ was...but when you have fame and a ton of money, the jury tends to forget about the victims and the guilt...

Possibly...I'm not saying he was innocent, just that he was never convicted. But the point remains that his behavior was on a completely different plain than Harry Morgan's, it's a ridiculous comparison.

The point wasn't Morgan vs. Jackson.

The point was that people's transgressions somehow magically disappear when they pass away under the old guise of "Never speak ill of the dead."

Sorry, but I think truth is truth, and we all have our good sides and we've all done things we regret. When you die, you're still the same person, warts and all.

And I just feel it's not necessary to rake a dead person over the coals for ONE regretful action.

Let he who is without sin...

For me they were never there. He made a mistake, he apologized for it. As Sue said let he who is without sin....
