Re: Happy Days before it was a show, different Howard & Joannie I was watching a Happy Days episode tonight on "Hub" tv (episode was named "Who's Sorry Now")...and they had a flashback episode to this "Love American Style" episode where Happy Days first gets introduced...
Apparently prior to the "Happy Days" skit airing on Love American Style, it was a pilot that nobody wanted to pick up...It wasn't until after it aired on LAS, that ABC picked up Happy Days, recasting Howard, Joannie and Chuck Cunningham (Ron Howard had 3 different brothers named Chuck eventually)...

Re: Happy Days before it was a show, different Howard & Joannie In the Love American Style version: Richie's dad gets a tv (nobody had tv) so a girl that had no interest in Richie plays up to Richie and goes on a "date" with Richie just to get to see tv for the first time...she lets him kiss her good night, and then tells him that they can't have a 2nd date because she's already with someone...
A few years later (on the real Happy Days), the same girl moves back into town after living in NYC for 3 years...She wanders into Arnold's and Fonzie gives her the hint to go over and talk to Richie, they go on a date and somehow she cons Richie into "going steady" with her...
They have the same girl and her mother in both episodes; same Mrs C; same Richie and same Potsie...but that's it: they had a different "soda shop" in the pilot (no Arnold's); no Fonzie or Ralph either...
