Partial credit to Sandy Alderson
Well, he's bringing back the team that didn't win...I don't know how smart that is, but the price paid for Bruce is fair. I guess we're back to the all-or-nothing approach.
Let's see, he subtracted Bruce, Granderson, Duda, Walker, Reed and Reyes.
He added back Bruce and added Swarzak. Even if you charitably call him a Reed replacement you're still down three solid players from last year. Furthermore you haven't defined your plan for Wilmer Flores' bat.
The more things change...

Re:
Bruce really isn't a horrible deal...particularly when you have both Dom and Conforto being question marks at the moment...I don't think that a team that wants to "have meaningful games in September" can afford to start the season with Dom, Nimrod and Lags all in the lineup at the same time...

Re:
Today's hot rumor is Adrian Gonzalez who would only cost major league minimum given that Atlanta is on the hook for his $22 million. That sounds much more like Sandy's speed.

Re:
read your article today...maybe Kevin Long can fix that guy from the Twinkies that you suggested...based on his power/speed/BB/K's numbers, I'm guessing that he's a speed guy that is too focused on trying jack the ball out of the ballpark...
since the Wilponzi's are cheap, they could go with an almost in-house option...the pan handling dog that begs outside of Shitty Field...

may not be able to hit or throw pretty good, but he's probably fast and if he drops the pipe can probably retrieve anything in the infield
