My campaign for a Rule V draft choice

The Mets have a great many needs, of course, but one that stands out is for a left handed relief pitcher. There's on in the Yankees organization who has been left unprotected in the Thursday morning 9:00 AM Rule V draft by the name of Nestor Cortes. The 22 year old has been nothing short of spectacular and like the Mets with Adonis Uceta, they're gambling he hasn't pitched high enough up in the organization for a club to gamble on keeping him on the roster for the entire year. I'd take that gamble. Have a look:

Cortes Amazing Minor League Stats

It's a double benefit of sticking it to the Yankees. They have a 100 mph pitcher unprotected named Anyelo Gomez who's getting a lot of attention but his profile is a lot like Josh Smmoker -- great heat but wild. I'll take the high control pitcher with the career [sign in to see URL] ERA who is also a lefty.

he's 23, and has pitched 100+ innings at the AA/AAA [sign in to see URL]'s more than qualified to get picked up as a Rule [sign in to see URL] totals a little low but good ERA and good WHIP...

I realize that the mega-yanks can't protect everyone, but he sounds like he'd be the Mets top pitching prospect if he was in our pathetic organization

Oh, you can't make this sh!t up...

The Baltimore Orioles wanted Cortes, so they get the Mets to pick another guy they wanted in order to sell him to them, so then they wind up with BOTH and the Mets get squat (well, some more money to pay for private jets for the Wilpons).
