I know there's a lot of sentiment for Super Joe McEwing and he has had some spectacular minor league results. Tim Bogar has as well. Ditto Alex Cora. So if you want to go with ex-Mets, there are three choices. Of the so-called experienced managers, Brad Ausmus, Bob Geren and Robin Ventura, like Collins, come in with career losing records. One name we don't hear much is former Twins manager Ron Gardenhire who has a terrific track record of 9 straight positive years dealing with a small market budget team. He has ex-Met ties, too. An out of left field choice is a minor league manager and current Dodgers front office person, Gabe Kapler. I'd written about options here and here in anticipation of our parole from the Collins imprisonment earlier this season. nondisclosed_email@example.com (LaidBackRider)Wed, 04 Oct 2017 10:56:38 +0000 Re:https://bthedugout.runboard.com/p11018,from=rss#post11018https://bthedugout.runboard.com/p11018,from=rss#post11018Thank God...now please let them make the right decision on the new manager!nondisclosed_email@example.com (Catcherlady)Mon, 02 Oct 2017 13:02:44 +0000 Re:https://bthedugout.runboard.com/p11017,from=rss#post11017https://bthedugout.runboard.com/p11017,from=rss#post11017Here's the link to the full story with my take on the whole sad story of the Mets and their infatuation with Terry Collins: Better Late Than Never I also posted a piece about the gutlessness of the media: Courage Comes Far Too Latenondisclosed_email@example.com (LaidBackRider)Mon, 02 Oct 2017 12:39:45 +0000 Re:https://bthedugout.runboard.com/p11016,from=rss#post11016https://bthedugout.runboard.com/p11016,from=rss#post11016apparently not.. nondisclosed_email@example.com (LaidBackRider)Mon, 02 Oct 2017 00:34:56 +0000 Re:https://bthedugout.runboard.com/p11014,from=rss#post11014https://bthedugout.runboard.com/p11014,from=rss#post11014DId the media piss off Sandy enough to give TC one more chance? https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/30/sports/baseball/as-mets-crawl-to-the-finish-sandy-alderson-stands-up-for-terry-collins.html?partner=rss&emc=rssnondisclosed_email@example.com (vtmet)Sun, 01 Oct 2017 06:36:38 +0000 Re:https://bthedugout.runboard.com/p11013,from=rss#post11013https://bthedugout.runboard.com/p11013,from=rss#post11013If this story is true, it calls to mind a number of questions: 1. Why did the media push the whole "everybody loves him" narrative? 2. Why didn't they run with this dissatisfaction angle earlier? 3. How did the notoriously leaky Mets organization keep it under wraps? 4. Does Sandy Alderson deserve some benefit of doubt if Fred overruled him? 5. Do we suddenly develop a modicum of respect for Sandy if indeed he wanted to can TC? 6. If Fred wants him then why should we believe he will be going this time? 7. Isn't the whole, "Go in a new direction" from the Mets and "I did what I came to do" from TC a tough sell now?nondisclosed_email@example.com (LaidBackRider)Fri, 29 Sep 2017 13:30:15 +0000 Re: Teflon Terry's Slippery Surface Gets Roughed Uphttps://bthedugout.runboard.com/p11012,from=rss#post11012https://bthedugout.runboard.com/p11012,from=rss#post11012quote: “Once he falls in love with you, he abuses you,” one official said. “He has run players into the ground.
