I realize that Hillary was a poor choice, but I really don't get how anyone of sound mind and conscience could have voted the way that they did...

It's easy to understand. The polls suggested the uneducated were squarely behind Trump while the educated were behind Hillary. There are many more stupid people than smart people. He gave them good scapegoats. You lost your job because of Mexico and China. In the meantime Trump Industries ships its jobs to China in the form of manufacturing contracts for construction supplies and clothing (including the Make America Great Again baseball caps). And the morons buy into the scapegoating. "We'll build a wall to protect our border" yet the last time I looked Al Qaeda wasn't sneaking across the Rio Grande into the USA. Again, the morons buy it. He is all soundbites and no substance. Substance requires analysis and intelligence on the part of the voter to interpret and understand. "We'll have the best plans. I'll hire the best people" does not require anything except soundbites. His carefully crafted marketing campaign of nicknames, "Lying Ted", "Little Marco", "Crooked Hillary", etc. gave the morons something to cheer. He owns the moron demographic which, unfortunately, is huge.

actually Trump lost the popular vote, but the way that the Electoral College is rigged; if you have 49% vs a 48% vote in a state, you get all of that states votes...so in the educated states (aka, the Northeast, the West Coast and some of the states near the Great Lakes)Trump got clobbered...in the dumb-!@#$ redneck states (aka the midwest, Texas, and the racist bible belt) Trump won by narrow margins...but he won enough dumbfuck states to make up for it...

I hope that women enjoyed their rights while they had them, since the conservatives (that now own the House, the Senate, the White House and soon the Supreme Court) intend to send us back to the age of dinosaurs...

Well put? Yeah...so much for keeping it civil.

Look guys, you're my friends and I respect you which is why I kept quiet up till now but I can't just sit back and say nothing. So I'm just going to say this and then go back to keeping my mouth shut...the problem in this country isn't Trump, Clinton, Obama or any other politician, the problem is ordinary, average citizens who think it's perfectly fine to call their fellow men and women "uneducated", "stupid", "dumb-!@#$" and many other far nastier statements I've seen made on social media in the last few days. No, Hit, that is not "well put", it's disrespectful and disgraceful and should never be considered acceptable (and no, Hit, relax, this isn't a personal slam against you, I've seen many people echoing that sentiment and it just makes me shake my head). You all have a right to your opinion, so do I, so does everyone else in this country...that's what makes it great, that's what makes it a democracy. I'd just like to think we're all reasonable enough to pull up our big boy/girl pants and act like respectful adults. Disagree, stick to your views, I will be the first to defend to the death your right to hold them, but do so without hurling invective at the other side. And before anyone says anything, that goes for BOTH sides. It's not right coming from anyone and I'm disgusted by that kind of behavior which I've seen coming from both sides. But SOMEONE has to be big enough to stand up and say enough is enough. Only then will the problems in this country really start to be corrected.

Ok, I'm off my soapbox, for what it's worth...peace.

Well, facts are facts. Trump did well among the less well educated. It's documented here. The more well educated voted elsewhere. I could have phrased it more positively but it doesn't change the reality of who the core constituency for the new administration is.

Also, you will note I encouraged people to vote without advocating for whom to vote.
