Re:

brewers and mets are working on the details:

whether the Mets pick up part of Walker's salary, and they get a little bit of Miller Lite in the stein;

or whether the Mets eat none of the salary, and not only do they get an empty stein, but Jay Horowitz will have to wash it first...and we don't even want to know what Bernie Brewer was using it for; but he does drink a lot of beer and spends a lot of time out on the field away from the rest rooms...

meanwhile, the Yanks claim that they offered a better deal

Apparently it's a partial kick-in of cash for a PTBNL.

In Sandy's world, no, it's not about the money. Nothing at all like that.

Do you think he's kicking himself over the embarrassing salary dump of Jay Bruce now that Bryce Harper is out for the year? I think the Nats would have ponied up quite a bit more than an A-Ball reliever with a 4.79 ERA.

yeah...that Bruce trade is a !@#$ headscratcher....I just don't get how the best that he could do with a guy that had 29 Homeruns and led the team in RBI, was a 40th round A ball reliever with shitty numbers...

in a partial defense of Sandy...yesterday he stated something along the lines of being surprised how many teams prefer to pick up a full balance of a contract vs giving up a better prospect...

I think for the most part, that "money ball" nonsense has gifted Sandy and Billy Beane a lifetime of unwarranted free passes...

they weren't !@#$ geniuses; they were just fortunate enough to be GM in a shitty 4 team division that had the Rangers, Angels, Mariners as the other 3 chumps...

Re:

So what he's essentially saying is that since he's unable to identify and sign decent draft choices, he'll instead try to rely on the more talented people on other teams to find young talent and then try to acquire them in trade (and fail at that, too)?
